Petzl Rope Grab Rescuscender
Petzl Rescuscender/Grab: The Rescucender is a unique ascender that is designed to help prevent rope damage under shock loads. The cam has a set of shallow, slightly rounded teeth which will provide just enough friction against the rope. Spring loaded action is achieved by the resistance of a small diameter cable attached to the cam. This cable can be unclipped for free-running action. Breaking strength 6,000 lbf (26.69KN). Weight 8 ounces. Made in the USA. For use with 7/16" or 1/2" lines. Compact and Ultra light. Cam activated for sure and safe gripping. Sold individually.
Petzl's Rescucender is one of Rock Thompson's designs, a proven rope grab that loads onto the rope in a very secure manner. Its milled aluminium construction makes it both lightweight and also very strong. This is the only product that we have seen that compares to the Petzl Shunt for use as a rope access backup device. It will hold a fall, yet the soft-milled cam and body shape work together to minimize the likelihood of damaging the rope. The Rescuecuender can be outfitted with a short tow-cord to make downward progress while rappelling easier and safer. It is suitable for for 7/16" - 1/2" ropes |
